Only a week remains in the month of August, meaning that Xbox Live Gold members are eagerly awaiting the announcement of next month’s free titles. Well, that wait is over as the next four free games have finally been made public knowledge. As usual, there will be two Xbox 360 titles offered throughout the month in addition to two Xbox One games, although every Xbox 360 title is also made backwards compatible so that those with the current generation of Microsoft’s console line can enjoy all four games on one system.
Xbox 360 titles split the month of September straight down the middle, so from September 1st until the 15th, Gold members will have access to Forza Horizon (regularly $19.99 USD) . Following this, from September 16th until the 30th, Mirror’s Edge (normally $14.99 USD) will replace it as the game available free of charge.
For the Xbox One, the first title was actually announced early via Major Nelson’s blog. This title is Earthlock: Festival of Magic (regularly $29.99 USD) and not only will it be available for the entire month of September, but this is the game’s debut on the Xbox One, making it yet another indie title to launch within the Games With Gold program. On September 16th, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China (normally $9.99 USD) will also join the list of free games and remain there until October 15th.
