To celebrate the Summer Olympic Games, special seasonal Loot Boxes are available in Overwatch from August 2-22. The standard Loot Box has been replaced with Summer Games loot boxes that contain at least one item from the Summer Games 2016 collection. Items include themed sprays, emotes, victory poses, highlight intros, player icons and country-themed skins.
Accompanying the first week of the Summer Games event is a new brawl game mode called Lucioball. It’s essentially Overwatch’s version of Rocket League, with two teams of three using Lucios to score goals.
When playing the game mode, Lucio’s primary attack has been change to a melee to allow him to dribble the ball better, while his alternate attack stays the same to launch the ball up field. In Lucioball, Lucio’s Crossfade only affects himself, and his ultimate now pulls the ball toward him from anywhere on the field.
A post on the Overwatch blog says we can expect more festive Loot Box items, maps and modes in the future.
The Overwatch Summer Games event is live now across PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
