The latest Overwatch patch is now live on PC, introducing the support sniper Ana, reworking D.Va’s Defense Matrix skill, and providing hero and game mode balance changes.
Ana was revealed last week and available to play in the public test region, but is now available to all players.
The other big update in the latest patch (22.214.171.124) is a rework of D.Va’s Defense Matrix skill. Defense Matrix has had its cooldown decreased from ten seconds to one second, but now has a resource meter that depletes while the skill is active (similar to Reinhardt’s shield). Defense Matrix has also been reclassified as an alternate fire and is bound to RMB by default.
Furthermore, D.Va’s ultimate cost has been decreased by 15% and the explosion delay has been reduced from four seconds to three seconds. The explosion also no longer damages the player who activates it. In the patch notes Blizzard says this was to give “Self-Destruct a little more oomph, because it felt slightly underwhelming when compared to many of Overwatch‘s other ultimate abilities.”
Zenyatta has also received a buff to his abilities. He now has 50 more shields, bringing his health bar to 200 rather than 150. His primary fire weapon damage has been decreased from 45 to 40, but his orbs now had their projectile speed increased from 30 to 120. Finally, Zenyatta’s ultimate has been buffed, giving him double movement speed upon activation and the healing amount has been increased from 200 to 300 health per second.
After his nerf last patch, McCree has received a slight buff to his range, allowing him to maintain full damage at longer distances.
The final big character change is Mercy’s ultimate. Resurrect now costs 30% to activate, but Mercy can move around during its activation.
The other big balance change hero-wise is that self-healing abilities now charge ultimate abilities. As a result, heroes with self-healing abilities have had their ultimate costs increased.
The overtime system has been slightly altered in this patch. If a match is in overtime for more than 20 seconds, the fuse will now start to burn more quickly, and player’s respawn time during overtime has been increased by two seconds.
Finally, in Competitive Play, there can only be one of each hero per team.
There are also some general bug fixes included in the patch too.
