Rocket League is now capable of cross-network play between Xbox One and PC, via Steam. The news was announced today by Jeremy Dunham, Vice President at Rocket League developer Psyonix through a post on Xbox Wire.
The cross-network play is thanks to Microsoft’s new policy to allow cross-platform play on Xbox One.
According to Dunham, Rocket League has had nearly 2 million players on Xbox One since its launch in February.
While the cross-network feature will be automatically on, it can be turned off in the ‘options’ menu if you just wish to play with Xbox One players.
The biggest beneficiaries of this announcement are PC players, who can now play against the full pool of Rocket League players because the game already supported cross-network play between PC and PlayStation 4. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players, however, cannot play against each other.
