Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Officially Revealed

Activision and Infinity War have officially announced the next game in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. According to a press release from Activision, Call of Duty is returning to its narrative roots of an epic battle between two armies, while also propelling the game into space.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is a bold, new vision from the studio that created the original Call of Duty and Modern Warfare, and an adventure on an insanely epic scale that only Call of Duty could deliver,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing.

In returning to its roots, Infinity Ward hopes to provide “the kind of gritty, boots on the ground, visceral war story,” according to Dave Stohl, Studio Head of Infinity Ward. However, the team is also taking players into space, giving them control of their own warship.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will also feature multiplayer, “featuring an evolution of Call of Duty’s movement system with emphasis on front-line engagement,” according to a press release.

Infinite Warfare will also feature a co-operative Zombies mode, a first for Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty titles. More information about multiplayer and the zombies mode will be announced at a later date – most likely E3 2016.

Finally, as rumoured last week, coming with a Legacy Edition of Infinite Warfare is a downloadable remaster of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, executive produced by Infinity Ward and developed by Raven Software. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered includes visual improvements, and revamped animation and audio. The game will also feature an online multiplayer mode with 10 maps from the original game, including ‘Crash’, ‘Backlot’ and ‘Crossfire.’

The original Modern Warfare raised the bar on video games and forever will be remembered as one of the best. It’s an honour to be developing the remaster and we are committed to faithfully remastering this classic for Call of Duty fans,” stated Brian Raffel, studio head of Raven Software.

The Legacy Edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has a recommended retail price of $79.99US ($129.95 in Australia). A Digital Deluxe Edition will include both games and a Season Pass for $99.99US ($149.95 in Australia). Finally, a Legacy Pro Edition will include all of the above, a collectible Steelbook, an official game soundtrack and additional digital items for $119 US ($169.95 in Australia).

A frequently asked questions page on Activision’s website states that the only way to get Modern Warfare Remastered is through one of the editions above, as it won’t be available as a separate game.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be available worldwide on Friday. November 4 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
