‘Overwatch’ Developers Provide Insight Into Netcode

If you, like me, are a sucker for learning about the technical side of video games then you’re going to love the latest video from the Overwatch EU YouTube Channel. Tim and Phil (no last names provided), developers on Overwatch discuss how netcode works in the game.

For those of you who don’t know, netcode is basically the process that allows people to play with or against each other online in games. It is important to have a good netcode in place to counter the latency that exists from players in different locations connecting to a server in a different location.

Overwatch launches on May 24 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. An Open Beta will run early in May.
