According to MCV UK, Sumo Digital, the developer of LittleBigPlanet 3, has taken over development on Dead Island 2. The game was originally being developed by Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager, until publisher Deep Silver decided to part ways with the studio in July, 2015.
“Sumo showed so much understanding of the brand, had creative ideas and an excellent vision that was aligned with our own,” said Koch Media CEO Dr Klemens Kundratitz, speaking to MCV.
More details will be revealed at a later stage.
Dead Island 2 was first announced at E3 2014 at Sony’s PlayStation press conference. At the time, the game was going to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
