March Games For Gold Titles Announced

With March quickly approaching, the next batch of free titles to be given away through Microsoft’s Games With Gold program have been officially unveiled. It seems that Microsoft has solidified their release schedule of free games, as once more we see the Xbox 360 titles split the month of March while one game for the Xbox One is made free all month long and the other is only released halfway through March but will be available until the middle of April. Without further ado, here are what games Xbox Live Gold members can expect to download for free in the coming month.

Xbox One owners will have free access to the detective title Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment (regularly $29.99) from March 1 until the 31. On March 16, when Styx: Master of Shadows returns to full price, the RPG Lords of the Fallen (normally $39.99) will be offered free of charge until April 15.

For Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners (as all Xbox 360 titles offered through the program are backwards compatible), the RTS game Supreme Commander 2 (normally $29.99) will be free to download from March 1 until the 15, at which point the comedic FPS title Borderlands 2 (regularly $19.99) will take its place and be available until March 31.

Editor’s thoughts: There seems to be a great deal of variety in March’s games, so fans of numerous genres should hopefully be able to find something that appeals to them. Comparing the titles just announced to the current offerings in February, the contrast in genres becomes even more evident as even between these two months, there isn’t much overlap of game types. This looks like a great sign of things to come for the Games With Gold program as it aims to broaden its spectrum of appeal. Also, if anyone hasn’t already played Borderlands 2, this is the perfect opportunity to rectify that as it is a truly memorable experience.
