Hi-Rez Studios has announced that the Oceania Region will return to compete in SMITE esports Season 3, with a total of $100,000 AUD prize pool across three major splits of competition.
“With over 14 million players worldwide, SMITE continues to grow, and Oceania has been an important piece of the game’s success. Our goal is to create a sustainable esports ecosystem for SMITE in Oceania that can last for years to come,” said Adam Mierzejewski, Hi-Rez Studios’ Esports Manager.
The first split for the 2016 SMITE season in Oceania will commence with two qualifiers, one on February 27-28 and the other on March 5. The top two teams from each qualifier will join 2015’s top two teams, Avant Garde and Dire Wolves, in the first split of the Pro League. The Pro League will be a best of three format, with the top two Pro League teams playing in a final at Cybergamer’s CGPL Autumn LAN on April 16-17. The bottom four Pro League teams will play the top four teams from the open Challenger tournament in a Split Two Qualifier Tournament on April 23-24.
Qualifying, Pro League, and Challenger finals will be broadcast on the TeamDownTV2 twitch channel.
