Fans of MOBA games will be happy to learn that this Friday morning developer Hi-Rez is kicking off competitions for it’s video game SMITE. The competition will be pitting teams from all over the world against each other to determine and find the best SMITE players in the world. In anticipation of the championships Hi-Rez has released a cinematic trailer featuring Japanese God.
The competition dubbed the SMITE World Championships contains a one million dollar and one hundred and fifty-thousand-dollar prize pools for the PC and Xbox version of the game, respectively. For those not in the know, SMITE is a mythology-themed free to play action game for PC and Xbox One which allows players to battle it out in an online arena with God-like characters.

For all the Australian fans out there, get excited, because Australian Team ‘Avant Garde’ has qualified and is eligible to win the World Championships after their Oceania Regional Championships victory at PAX Australia. The team itself is made up of players who hadn’t met in person prior to their win at the finals at PAX Australia in 2015. They have remained undefeated all season and will be versing US/Canadian team ‘Enemy’ on Friday morning.
A live broadcast will be held on Twitch for the event. The stream will have its keynote address on Friday at 3AM AEDT where developer Hi-Rez will provide some wsw info regarding it’s all-new first person shooter, Paladins.
