Wii U Top-Selling Item at Target’s Website on Black Friday

During North America’s biggest shopping day of the year, the Wii U was named the top-selling item on retailer Target’s website.

Splatoon Smash Bros Wii U bundle

Target made the announcement through their pressroom website. “Gaming consoles were popular in stores and online, including the Nintendo Wii U, which was the top-selling item on” This feat can likely be contributed to the holiday Wii U bundle, which is packed with a deluxe system, and download codes for Splatoon and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U for $250.

The number of units sold was not listed, but Target provided additional details on others sales. Throughout Thanksgiving, one iPad was sold every second, $10 3-foot teddy bears sold out in stores within minutes and customers bought 3 million movies in store.

Editor’s Thoughts: I must admit this is quite surprising in a few ways. You’re telling me the Wii U not only outsold the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but Apple products and tablets as well? I’m not saying Target is wrong, or downing Nintendo for successful news, but something about this seems off, especially since there were no numbers, something they need to make such a statement. If they were able to say how many movies were sold in stores, then why not provide the Wii U’s numbers as well? I’m happy for Nintendo, but this is making me skeptical.

  1. I admit I won’t be convinced until I see numbers either, but I can see it happening, especially with the bundle mentioned. I’ve been thinking of getting one myself and probably would have if not for adult expenses. The holiday season is a time for kids, Rob. You know, those things you kick?
