While it was made public last month that Mafia III would be fully revealed in August, it was unknown exactly what gamers would be treated to seeing. That question has finally been answered, as an entire cinematic trailer was shown at Gamescom, giving some insight into the backstory of the protagonist and the main setting for the title.
It seems Mafia III will take place in New Orleans in the year 1968, following Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam war veteran who has returned to the city and found himself a home in organized crime. While the trailer does not delve deep into details, and details from the official website are slim to none, it is safe to assume that once again there will be a significant focus placed on spinning a captivating tale of mob life and the unexpected turns it can cause in one’s life. What the trailer does show is a selection of brief flashbacks designed to give the player an idea of Lincoln’s background before culminating in a murder deep in the bayou, using Louisiana environments and their inherent dangers to full effect.
Mafia III is currently slated for a release at some point in 2016, although the platforms seeing the title are still currently unknown. Check back for more details as we keep you updated.
