‘SMITE’ on Xbox One Will Have Australian Servers From Open Beta

Hi-Rez Studios has announced that its free-to-play MOBA, SMITE, will have Australian servers when the Open Beta launches next Thursday, July 8th.

“We’re delighted to offer SMITE communities the best possible experience on PC and now console, and we are impressed with the growth of the game on PC in Australia. We are pleased to support the release of SMITE on Xbox One with dedicated Australian servers from next week,” said Andy Anderson, Xbox One Senior Producer, Hi-Rez Studios.

The PC version of SMITE has had Australian servers since October, 2014, but the Xbox One version has only had North American and European servers.

When Australian and New Zealander players select the Australia region, they should enjoy smoother gameplay for matchmaking and custom matches.

The Australian community has enjoyed plenty of support from SMITE, with a regular community play night on Thursdays and a competitive eSports competition with the Oceania Pro League which provides a pathway for an Australian team to compete on the global stage at the SMITE World Championships in 2016.

The SMITE Xbox One Open Beta will launch on July 8. It will be free to download and play. Existing players will keep all god unlocks, experience and cosmetics they have already earned from the Closed Beta during the transition.

In other SMITE news, the PC version of the game received a new patch this week, featuring a new god and balance changes.

AA’s MOBA newbie, Eric Pepper, recently wrote about his experience with his first MOBA through the SMITE Closed Beta.
