According to Famitsu, the confirmed games which will be available at launch will be rather similar to the Western release but with a few additions namely Halo, Sunset Overdrive, and Kinect Sports Rivals. Forza 5, Ryse: Son of Rome and Dead Rising 3 will also be launching with the console.

Square Enix has also weighed in with the Japanese launches of Tomb Raider, Murdered: Soul Suspect and Call of Duty Ghosts and Thief, the latter two of which are published by Square in Japan.

Overall, there are more than 40 developers lined up for the Xbox One in Japan including the Japanese divisions of some Western developers as well as solely Japanese companies.

Traditionally, the Xbox brand has severely under performed in Japan ever since the launch of the first Xbox. Some argue Microsoft has never really figured the Japanese market out. With the incredibly low Japanese numbers compared to the West’s, it’s certainly going to be a challenge for Microsoft with its Japanese history on top of the fact the PS4 will have been out in Japan for almost a year at that point.
