Microsoft’s Xbox Division Has New Leader

Since Don Mattrick’s exit from Microsoft last year, Microsoft has been searching for a new head of its Devices and Services department.

It turns out ex-Nokia CEO Stephen Elop will be taking the role from current head of Devices and Services, Julie Larson-Green. Larson-Green will take a new role as Chief Experience Officer of the Applications and Services group.

IGN notes that Elop “was also rumoured to be in favor of spinning out Microsoft’s Xbox business… if deemed nonessential to the company’s strategy,” if he gained the position Microsoft CEO. He did not end up scoring that job.

Elop will not take his new position until Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia is complete later this year.

In other Xbox related news, the Xbox One is receiving a price drop in the UK and a special Titanfall bundle is to be available when the game launches next month.
