2013’s Awards – Best Trailer, Soundtrack & Visuals

As all good things must come to an end, so does 2013. Nevertheless, this past year will sure go down as one of the more impressive ones in our industry. Not only did the 8th generation of gaming begin, but 2013 also saw the release of yet another batch of overly impressive titles, which are sure to amaze pretty much everyone.

For our third feature, we’ve decided to ditch the consoles, and instead, focus on trailers, soundtracks, and visuals. First, let’s see about those videos. After a long and hard debate, we at Analog Addiction decided that the following five trailers are truly worthy of a nomination, with Watch Dogs‘ “Out of Control” being the absolute best.

Secondly, what’s a game without a soundtrack, right? We’ve complied a list of five games, each having a unique and chilling-in-its-own-way feel. And the nominees are:

  • BioShock Infinite
  • Hotline Miami
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • Rayman Legends
  • Saints Row IV

And the winner is… Grand Theft Auto V. Just listen to “Sleepwalking,” by The Chain Gang of 1974, and you’ll understand our choice.

Finally, we’ve come to a pretty sensible topic, one that has sparked many an argument ever since… well, ever since video games existed – visuals. Graphics are obviously an important part of a game, simply because they can make the respective title more immersive. As such, here are five titles that made our jaws drop, this year:

  • The Last of Us
  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Battlefield 4
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • Crysis 3

And the winner is…

Last of Us

The Last of Us

Sure, PC titles like Black Flag, or Battlefield 4 are obviously prettier – sporting higher polygons, resolutions etc. – but the way Ellie, Joel, and the others act, interact, the way everything blends together in LoU’s post-apocalyptic world is something that’s not easily rivaled, making The Last of Us Analog Addiction’s choice for best visuals of 2013.

Agree? Disagree? We’re always eager to hear your thoughts, so don’t forget to put them down in the comments section below.
