Deus Ex’s Adam Jensen was to be Far Cry 3’s Jason Brody

The voice-actor behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s protagonist – Elias Toufexis – has revealed that he had spent two years on recording Far Cry 3’s Jason Brody’s voice, until Ubisoft decided otherwise.

During this year’s MCM Comic Con in London, Adam Jensen’s voice has revealed that Ubisoft feared gamers would associate Jason too much with Human Revolution’s Adam.

I played him for two years. Did the voice and when Deus Ex came out they replaced me because they were nervous that… we don’t want people playing this game and thinking of another game. It’s justifiable, it’s understandable, but my normal voice is what I used for that character too. So now it’s like I’m losing work because Jensen is so popular.

In the end, Far Cry 3’s publisher opted for Gianpaolo Venuta, who had previously voiced others in games like Assassin’s Creed II, and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
