Deep Down is Set in 2094 New York

When its first trailer debuted during Sony’s conference back in February, Deep Down looked like a medieval-fantasy RPG/action-adventure. Apparently though, Capcom’s upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive online title is actually set in the future… as in 2094 New York.

The news broke out at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan’s press conference during today’s Tokyo Game Show. In Deep Down, players will be able to experience the past, via different memories. It’s not 100% clear how it’ll work, but for now, think about Assassin’s Creed, and you’ll get the general idea.

Additionally, the game will feature procedurally generated dungeons, meaning that many elements – like enemy encounters – will be different every time you start a new session. Moreover, the game puts an emphasis on online cooperation, as up to four players will be able to join up.

Capcom’s Deep Down is based on a brand-new engine – called Panta Rhei – which sure looks like it’ll put PS4’s power to good use.

A demo will be available later this month, at TGS. Until then, take a look at some gameplay bits from today’s show below.
