Sony Announces PS Vita Slim

At its pre-TGS press conference, Sony has announced a redesigned PlayStation Vita model heading to Japan this October.

Vita Slim 1

The redesign, named the PCH-2000 (or Slim) comes with 1GB of internal memory with a longer lasting battery. The system will be 20 per cent slimmer and 15 per cent lighter than the current Vita model. However, the Vita’s OLED screen has instead been swapped out for an LCD to aim for a more “affordable” version of the handheld.

3G has also been dropped making this system WiFi only.

The Vita Slim launches on October 10th for 18, 980 Yen and comes in a pretty varied colour pallet which includes white, pink, blue, silver, yellow, black and the standard black/grey colour scheme of the current version.

However, it only looks as if this version will come to Japan for now as no Western release dates were mentioned.
