Xbox 360 Support to Continue Until 2016

Microsoft has recently announced that the Xbox 360 will continue to be supported for three more years – that is until 2016 – after which it’ll fully stop.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Xbox chief marketing and strategy officer Yusuf Mehdi stated the Microsoft’s current generation console will receive over 100 new games, until its end.

If you look at 360 that platform lasted for seven to eight years and it’s going to go for another three years. It’s incredibly profitable now in the tail.

Mehdi also stated that the arrival of the Xbox One will not mean 360’s death, as both consoles can happily co-exist in the market.

We’re going to continue to invest in Xbox 360, and the two devices can work in concert. So it’s not like the day we ship Xbox One your 360 won’t work. We’ll continue to support it.

What do you think? Will you still be playing on the 360 after One’s arrival, or is the call of the next generation simply too strong? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
