Nintendo Reports Appalling Wii U Sales

Nintendo has reported some shockingly poor Wii U sales in its financial results for the last quarter released.

Wii U

The financial reports tells how Nintendo has sole a mere 160,000 units of its latest console worldwide in this last quarter. Nintendo sold 90,000 in North America, 60,000 in Europe and only 10,000 in the UK which would tell us why British retailer Asda stopped stocking the console.

The figures displayed are worse than anyone could have predicted, much less Nintendo.

The cause of the poor results are attributed to “few key first party titles” by Nintendo. Of course, Pikmin 3 will hopefully make a difference for the next quarter but the only first party releases of this one was the minigame collection Game & Wario and New Super Luigi U.

Nintendo’s only saving grace for this financial quarter was the 3DS which is becoming the companies airbag time and time again. The 3DS sold 1.4 million units in this quarter which trumps the Wii U.

Despite some varied results, Nintendo does remain in profit. Whilst Nintendo made 81.5 billion Yen as opposed to last years 84.8 billion Yen, it’s an improvement over the 17.23 billion loss from this time last year.
