Ubisoft Confirms Three ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Titles In Development

Assassins Creed IV Black Flag Assassination

Ubisoft CEO has confirmed there are three different Assassin’s Creed titles currently in development.

Yves Guillemot has revealed these details in a recent interview with Kotaku, these measures have been put in place to avoid franchise fatigue.

“We are making sure the teams who are creating the different iterations have enough time—two years, three years, so that they can take risk and they can change the concept enough so that it can be appealing and fresh,” Guillemot stated.

The Assassin’s Creed series has become an annualised franchise for Ubisoft, with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag confirmed to release later this year. This leaves two unaccounted Assassin’s Creed titles in development, assuming Ubisoft will continue the annual tradition one of these titles would be the 2014 Assassin’s Creed.

The other could possibly be a Vita follow-up to Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, which produced strong sales for Sony’s handheld. The title could also be the Assassin’s Creed 2015 title in early development, or even the previously rumoured Assassin’s Creed: Phoenix Rising.

Though these titles are all speculative, it seems Assassin’s Creed will continue to grace our gaming industry over the next few years.

  1. Didn’t they say AC4 was meant to be released for 2015 with the next gen consoles? I think that’s probably why there’s 2 in development. Since not many people liked Connor except for a few like me 😀 I think they brought a pirate game forwards or just changed the character although for me it’s not a game I’m gonna go crazy for. I think I’ll probably wait a year or 2 to buy this new game. It does look like it’s adding a lot and I’ve wanted a pirate game ever since the fabled Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned but the main character’s really putting me off. I don’t know but I think they were trying to make him more like Ezio but if they want more Ezio, why do they keep moving timelines lol. Why can’t they make a unique character for each era?

    • From what I know AC4 is still set for Q4 this year, the PC title was delayed a few weeks, but either way don’t think 2015 lol.

I’m not sure how long the boating missions can continue before they get stale, even in 3 they eventually wore on me. A whole game based around them? Who knows.

      • lol I meant a bit of info a long, long time ago although I assume it’s probably a bunch of AC4 sequels like Edward Kenway or like a spin-off say in multiple settings or play as an actual historical character… and Leonardo gets the vote! 😀

I know you can get up to 50 upgrades for a boat and that’s gonna a lot more than any other AC game but I suppose we’ll have to wait and see and make sure they didn’t mean 50 missions lol.

        • Well seeing as this game was in development for two years, one would assume they decided to get rid of Connor early, I didn’t even mind him really. I personally want a break from the franchise, just one year thanks.

          • haha Yeah can’t have too much gaming or our head’s explode. A few 2 minutes should do the trick. 😀 I think they may have had some sort of Connor sequel in mind although from the reactions, it seems unlikely but if Ubisoft had a 2 year schedule, I could see them promoting their SP DLC much more and all the ones I have played so far are really fun but I never played the first 2 parts of AC3 Washington. Felt like I got money’s worth with part 3. 🙂
