E3 2013: More on ‘Watch_Dogs’

One of the most anticipated games shown at E3 this year is Watch_Dogs. Most of you know the basic premise of the game, but today the developers took some time to share some more information about the game. Some of it is as simple as the fact that in typical sandbox fashion, if you fail a mission you restart the whole thing or from a checkpoint, but some of it, like how the multiplayer co-op and competitive multiplayer modes work.

What was showcased in the demo yesterday was the co-op multiplayer where an external player used their mobile device to aid the person playing on the console evade the police. The person doing the aiding has the ability to hack everything Aiden can, but also has access to some more powerful hacks, such as hacking into a police helicopter, making it turn around and leave. One competitive player mode is considered more of a “challenge” where the person on the console sends out a challenge to all of their friends, and whoever decides to take them up on it has to do their best to stop Aiden from succeeding. There is also a competitive mode that pits Aiden up against another hacker who is roaming around the city, but not much information was released about this mode.

As many of you know, Watch_Dogs will be available on November 19th in North America and November 21st in Europe on the Wii U, PS3, PC, and Xbox 360. It will also become available on the PS4 and Xbox One at a currently unspecified date.
