Titled The Smurfs 2, the game is a platformer action-adventure under the development of Ubisoft and WayForward. It will release on the Wii U, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii. The Nintendo DS version of the game will instead act as an interactive storytelling book with a compilation of mini-games. The game’s release will release in July 2013 coinciding with the film’s release on July 31.

The Smurfs 2 allows players to relive moments and revisit locales from the film in a variety of locations including the Smurf Village, New York and Paris. There will also be locations exclusive to the game including The Arctic Tundra and The Laval Jungle.

The game may be played by themselves or with three other friends cooperatively as one of nine Smurfs featured in the movie. With the Wii U’s GamePad controller, a fifth player may join the game as well.

No Smurf plays the same, however. For example, Papa Smurf  throws potions to stun enemies, Grouchy Smurf can stomp on foes, and Vanity Smurf can create platforms to reach far-away items.
