Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Leaked via Uplay

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Screen

It seems like Ubisoft is experiencing quite a few leaks these past few days. First, there was the teaser trailer, then a few screenshots, and now we find out that the entire ‘Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon’ game has been leaked via Ubisoft’s own distribution service, Uplay.

By exploiting a vulnerability found inside Uplay’s launcher, Russian hackers have found a way to illegally download games from Ubisoft’s servers. What’s worse is the fact that the service also offers third party titles, so, for example, games published by EA or Square Enix are also in danger.

The hackers created a piece of software which tricks the launcher into believing that the respective account already owns different titles. The software creates a direct link which prompts the download of the games, and as such, bypasses the Uplay DRM.

Ubisoft has yet to patch this exploit, but we think it’s safe to assume that they’ll notice it soon enough, and it’s more than possible that the publisher will ban the hackers’ accounts.

Attention: We do not encourage, in any way, the use of this exploit.
