GameStop has Information about the Next Xbox; Won’t Share

Executives from the US retailer, GameStop, have received new information directly from Microsoft about the company’s next generation console, “but [they]’d rather that be out in the public before [they] discuss.”

President Tony Bartlet teased the fact that he is aware of some of Microsoft’s next generation plans, but he would prefer that information to be first released to the public, before he would announce any digital revenue expectations for 2014.

“The problem is that we just – we have one console [PlayStation 4], and we have some knowledge that we can share, more knowledge that we can’t. We also have knowledge of the second console, but I’d rather that, that be out in the public before we discuss our digital goals for 2014.”

Even if that is the case, CFO of GameStop, Robert Lloyd, reported that the company still doesn’t know when the next Xbox will launch.

“As of now, there’s been one console announced for a fourth quarter launch. Guidance at the low end of the ranges reflects that one console coming to market. Guidance at the high end of the ranges reflects the launch of a second console, should one be announced. We are making broad assumptions about launches within the guidance, as we do not have launch date information for quantities, prices or available software.”

With Sony already ahead of Microsoft when taking about the reveal of its next generation console, many are still wondering when will Microsoft debut their next entry in the console market. Some say it’s gonna happen later this month, so for all things Xbox, keep your sights on Analog Addiction!
