Vergil’s Downfall DLC Not Available Until End of February

Update: Our ‘Vergil’s Downfall’ Review

Update: For your chance to win a copy of Vergil’s Downfall for PlayStation 3, check out our giveaway.

For those gamers out there who have pre-ordered their copy of DmC and received their Vergil’s Downfall DLC code, some of you may be wondering why you cannot access this content. I know I was, with many people also expressing these same queries throughout the internet. This is because the content is actually available at the end of February, no set date as been announced but this word comes from Capcom themselves.

Vergil’s Downfall will provide players with a brand new chapter which follows the untold events of Vergil, Dante’s twin brother. The add-on content will provide hours of gameplay, four difficulty levels along with the brand new story, weapons, combos, enemies and locations. Which will cost 720 Microsoft points / £7.20 / $11.10 Aus / $11.73. Though the Samurai Weapons pack is available to download right now.

Although never stating the exact date of release, many assumed that the DLC would be available on launch day, confusing many fans with the DLC incentive to pre-order. With one fan stating “They should’ve been clearer with that in the promos. They said it would be available with pre-order. Clearly it is but not until next month “. Last week it was announced Bloody Palace Mode would be available as free DLC shortly after release.

Should Capcom or Ninja Theory for that matter, made it clearer? Technically they never said it would be released on launch day, but their advertising certainly has left fans confused and disgruntled. DmC was released earlier today for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with the PC version coming on January 25.

Check out Analog Addiction in the coming week for our review of DmC, minus the Vergil’s Downfall DLC.

  1. I’m not necessarily bothered by having to wait, I wouldn’t have minded waiting until the “end of February” to get more information about the DLC….but the fact is they didn’t do it! I’M pissed off because here it is, last day of February, and no word at all. There’s so much confusion with some people already playing and posting videos on Youtube, while some are saying the release date is in early March…last I checked, “early March” is not “end of February.” I’m left to assume that I have to wait until March 6th to get content I was promised to get at the end of February…Capcom REALLY should have done something to make that clearer…or at the very least they should do something for frustrated gamers like me, who are starting to feel their loyalty waning…

    • 100% agree, I didn’t mind waiting either. But I expected, along with many others it came with the game. It wasn’t until day of release they clarified it and then, well as you know they barely clarified it. Since it is now March 7 in my region, it was poorly handled and those that got the DLC card in the game wouldn’t have a clue when it comes out…Since it doesn’t even state any kind of date on the card.

  2. Well I knew it would be later date. Darksiders 2 did the exact same thing with their dlc. But it was not a pre order bonus. It was a buy it new only. This one is a pre order only.

  3. Yeah that is annoying. I didn’t want to wait until some fanboy is playing on youtube just to hear about it. I want it as early as possible which I believe would friggin be today. I came home to use net that was sufficient enough to get it and boom no. So stupid.

    • Exactly right, rather than just avoiding informing anyone of the date really until release day. Only a small percentage of people actually knew it wasn’t on-day DLC and now who actually has any clue when it will be released, handled very poorly.

  4. of course it wasn’t going to be released as the game was launched? I even knew that when I saw the trailers. I did research like a smart boy and didn’t get disappointed 😛

    • You would be suprised how many people actually didn’t know about the dlc was coming out after the launch. It wasn’t broadcasted that well to the customers

  5. It’s understandable why many assumed that, but I read it wasn’t going to be released until shortly after it’s release, so this doesn’t bother me. But obviously not everyone read the same thing that I did, so it definitely should have been made clearer.

    • I purchased my copy online, so I never had the face to face interaction with a CSA telling it was in February. Had some explain to me who was in the same situation after they spoke to an employee, even the code sheet says redeem…Not stating date.

As you said some may have known, but definitely the explanation of the DLC wasn’t done that well when many were in the dark.
