The Secret World No Longer Has Subscription Fee

The MMORPG The Secret World will no longer require a subscription fee for players to be able to access the game.

The compulsory subscription fee that came along with The Secret World has been dropped but funcom will be supporting an optional Membership option that fans will have to pay for. The new option requires monthly payments of $15 and will give players a Time Accelerator item, $10 worth of bonus points, a 10% discount in all in-game stores and an item-of-the-month.

Those who bought a lifetime subscription will receive everything the Membership option gets plus another 10% in-game story discount. Lifetime subscribers can also use their discount in further DLC packs. General subscribers will not have access to this feature however.

DLC for The Secret World will be available in January 2013. It’s currently unnamed but it’ll be free for everyone who subscribes before the end of 2012 but those who don’t will have to pay $5 for the content.
