Will The Next Hitman Game Be Done By Someone Else?

It’s an interesting thought, seeing how Hitman: Absolution isn’t even out yet, but it might just be something real. Karsten Lund, a longtime IO employee says the following:

“IO Interactive have been doing a very good job of putting the player front and center and have given us some of the most memorable moments in gaming; emergent stories of how players completed missions shared at the water cooler, this to me is the core DNA of a Hitman game. I know how hard that is to create; I was at Io for the last 11 years. Our challenge is obviously to retain that DNA, while establishing ownership in our team and of our game.”

This statement really does raise a question: are they giving the franchise to someone else? It seems that he clearly wants us to understand that the same level of high quality the franchise is known for, will still be there in the future game: “Our challenge is obviously to retain that DNA, while establishing ownership in our team and of our game.” So that would mean that someone else will be doing the next game but they will still be there, supervising, to ensure the best quality is made.

IO Interactive is the company who made all the other games in the Hitman franchise. It’s kinda like their baby and seeing how they might give it to someone else is an interesting idea to say at least.

Our take on this one: The Hitman franchise isn’t so popular as Call Of Duty but it does have its fair share of fans and seeing how Absolution is turning out to be quite a special game in the series, taking care to please both hardcore fans and the more casual ones, it might not come as a surprise for Square Enix to think about a possible sequel, even if Absolution isn’t even out yet. The surprise is that for the first time in the series, we might be seeing someone else take a shot at the Hitman series.

What do you think? Would you like IO to take a break from the series and do something else? Like a Mini Ninjas sequel maybe (that’s what I’m counting on)? Let us know in the comments bellow!

    • It’s so true. I was playing a bit of Silent Assassin the other day, after a few days playing Blood Money and oh boy… I wanted to bash my head against a wall. There were so many great things in Blood Money that you feel like they were only natural to the game, and only start appreciating them once you get into the older games. For once (and this was the most annoying thing for me) you can’t really sneak behind someone while they’re walking in SA because you move so damn slooow, while in BM you’re still crouched but you still move AT LEAST as fast as the other NPCs so there’s no trial and error there. It’s hard, but manageable but by looking at Absolution, I think that after playing it and going back to BM, we’ll appreciate Absolution even more.
