Free To Play Restrictions Unveiled For The Old Republic

BioWare has announced what the precise restrictions are for Star Wars: The Old Republic for when it goes Free-To-Play. BioWare’s been pretty tight lipped about what will be featured in it’s F2P option but an update to the games website has detailed those features.

If you don’t want to subscribe, you’ll get the full story for free as well as three PVE flashpoint runs, PVP warzones and Space Missions a week. If you want unlimited access, you will need a Weekly Pass. As a F2P player, your inventory and cargo bay space will be restricted and can only be removed if you use the new Cartel Coins. You won’t be able to run Operations under F2P either so thats another reason for a Weekly Pass. As F2P members, you won’t get login priority nor will you get Quick Travel cooldown periods shortened. F2P players will only get one Crew Skill slot, a limited number of Field Revivals and the Emergency Fleet Pass revoked.

We still don’t know exactly when the Free-To-Play option will arrive as it’s still listed as “later this fall” on BioWare’s website but F2P was inevitable after BioWare lost a significant number of subscribers. Stay tuned to Analog Addiction for any updates as and when they arrive.
