Kojima Talks Metal Gear Solid Movie Casting

After Metal Gear mastermind Hideo Kojima dropped the bomb that a Metal Gear Solid movie was in the works and to be produced by Avi Arad (of X-Men and Spider-Man), the gears in the heads of a million fans no doubt went spinning out of control in an attempt to cast the roles. Well, if your fan casting included a Hollywood superstar for the role of Snake, Kojima and crew might just have other plans.

Addressing the Eurogamer Expo, Kojima, who will be assisting Arad in casting choices, dished out a few details on the process. “If I talk to much about this Avi might get mad at me,” he said, “but after thinking about it more, it’s probably better to go for someone new, a rising star, someone who hasn’t been typecast before as a particular kind of character, so that’s the route we’re going right now.

“Avi is very good at finding these people, and I think we can find someone who can make it big and have Solid Snake be their break into the movie industry.”

You heard it hear first, folks. Solid Snake will be played by that guy down at the community theater who’s desperately trying to grow the hell out of a beard right now.

  1. I hope it turns out to be someone semi-recognizable. Maybe an actor from the indie scene. I mean, those are big shoes to fill for a no-name actor with minimal screen experience.

  2. Man, I was at Eurogamer yesterday. I would’ve paid to get into his developer session. It started just as soon as my ticket allowed me entry >:/
