Studio Liverpool, Do They Live?

If you’ve been paying attention to Sony’s business strategies over the last year, you would notice a few things, namely that Sony has shuttered a number of it’s First Party studio’s this year. BigBig Studios, famous for Little Deviants and the Pursuit Force games on the PSP and Zipper Interactive who were responsible for games such as the SOCOM series on the PS2/PS3, MAG on the PS3 and their most recent Unit 13 on the PS Vita.

Last month, Sony also announced that it was closing one of it’s older developers, Studio Liverpool who began life in 1984 as Psygnosis and were responsible for the Colony Wars series, the Formula One series and their most famous, the Wipeout series. However, a Twitter post and a Facebook post on the studios feed/page for their most recent entry, Wipeout 2048 seem to indicate that Studio Liverpool could possibly be coming back.

The postings say only “WE. ARE. ALIVE”. This could mean a variety of things. It could mean that Studio Liverpool are set for a return or it could be the name of a DLC for Wipeout 2048.

Could this mean the return of Studio Liverpool?

So what do you think this is? Could this indeed be the return of Studio Liverpool? Or is this a new DLC?  Tell us what you think in the comments below.
